My Story

Life throws a lot of challenges our way, especially after 40. Our children are young adults starting independent lives, we are caring for or losing parents, our careers may present new challenges as we reach levels of greater responsibility or prepare for retirement, and we are working through changes with our metabolism and bodies.

All of this can lead to a lot of stress, anxiety and loss of confidence. Join me as we navigate through all of the changes to find balance among our body, mind and soul on a journey towards holistic wellness.

My Yoga and Wellness Journey

My journey into yoga has been one of self-discovery, healing, and profound growth, and it’s an honor to share this path with others. I first encountered yoga when I was in my late 20’s and training for marathons. Yoga provided a nice stretch for my muscles in between long runs. My practice was sporadic and came to a halt when we began renovating a house and became parents to an energetic little boy.

I returned to yoga in my early 50’s and discovered wonderful studios with excellent teachers. On-line YouTube classes provided other opportunities to practice that fit my schedule and allowed me to practice from the convenience of home. As I dove back into my practice with teachers who provided more than asana (poses), I realized I wanted to explore yoga deeper. After searching the internet for options, I registered for yoga teacher training. Developing a meditation practice and exploring the chakras allows me to reflect and connect my mind to the internal and external world in a new light.

During this time period, I felt like changes to my body were out of my control. I was gaining weight, inches and starting to feel stiff in the morning. For the first time in my life I was diagnosed with hypertension (high blood pressure) and put on medication. Furthermore, foods I had eaten my whole life began to cause inflammation. I visited with a functional health doctor and have been working towards a diet that leaves me satisfied and comfortable.

As if all of these changes were not enough, I lost both of my parents to cancer in 2019 and 2022. My son also left for college in the fall of 2021 and with my husband traveling a great deal for work, I suddenly felt alone missing family connection.

Do any of these conditions sound or feel familiar? If so, you are in the right place. Please join me on a transformational journey towards holistic wellness using the resources shared here.
